As a Designer with Hispanic heritage Casey’s Company, House Of Avila was grown.

Materials & Resources to live by
Even when we try to go greener in everyday life we always seem to be falling down at the first hurdle. Sifting through the web, books, labels and the fine print on labels can be time consuming and will possibly put people off wanting to make the switch and become more eco friendly. Going back to our roots and shopping at the local or farmers markets are becoming more and more popular.
Materials such as glass and metal can be recycled repeatedly. Even after being recycled many times it does not loose quality and therefore is a great sustainable material. These should be the first choice when sourcing products. Materials such as wood are very sustainable but can’t be recycled, so should be used time and time again until the structure of the product becomes unstable, which should then be placed outdoors so it can properly degrade down back to the earth.
The worlds natural resources are diminishing because of high demand. The world forests suffer from deforestation. Our oceans littered with plastic and materials that take well over 10 years to naturally decompose. Impacts like this is starting to be recognised and seen as a huge environmental issue that needs to change for the better. Using certified and responsible manufacturers that show the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) mark will help to save our forests and make people more conscious on what they should and shouldn’t buy.
